The History of MeeF, the condensed version
Summing up 6 years in a few paragraphs isn't easy but I will take my best shot at it...
Back in Nov 2003, the biggest games online were Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor. MeeF was formed by 3 members from a clan (DCFA) that was breaking up.
MeeF had 2 divisions; Call of Duty(headed by Apex)and the newly released Battlefield Vietnam (headed by Nip and Kev). The divisions were run basically like 2 totally different clans and even had thier own websites.
The COD division only lasted a couple months and Apex left, but the BF:V Division grew and started to get some very talented players. Competition became the main focus but it also led to way too much stress on the clan. After competing for a while in BF:V (and doing very well),many members wanted to move on to another game and some wanted to stick with BF:V. It became apparrent that there were 2 types of clan members: "Competition only members" and "casual players". We had to make a decision on what direction the clan needed to go and we chose the casual route. A few members left to start thier own clan to compete however the core members of MeeF stayed. Kev left to focus on his career leaving only Nip (me) as the last founding member. The first 2 years of MeeF were turbulent times as we learned how to run a clan and also to figure out the clans "personality".
Over the years MeeF has played quite a few games and has run servers in all of them. We typically will stick with a game between 5-8 months depending on how long it holds everyones interest. If a game is particularly good, we will run a couple servers for it. Servers/site/voice communications are funded through the generosity of donations from our own members. Donations are not madatory for any member nor does it affect a members status. When we are active in a game, we have always kept at least one server going.
MeeF took up lan competition in 2005 and continues to do so when our schedules allow it.
